On other matters: 1. Re the recent discussion on exchange #18, if we're still voting, I favor Jack R's suggestion of 2"x2" or 2"x3". 2. Sites I've recently enjoyed...Julio, April, Jean Eiger, Louise C, Mike L, Jeanne N C(Wow!), Shireen H, Patti P-C, and Dave's links to Hishiki's work. The fact that Hishiki san only took up woodblock at the age of 60 is most inspiring and encouraging to one 'somewhere in the 60s' (age wise, not time wise!)... Dear Minna Sora, Would you please contact me off list? I tried to access the links you provided, but Had difficulty understanding the language. Do you subscribe to After Five? If you do not, then I would be most pleased to discuss some cultural biases with you privately. Dearest Patti, We at Papalotl are very happy that you have heard from Chris, and sorry about your job loss, although the loss is HP's, not yours! ................................... I am assuming they need to be horizontal, right?" No, they can be either horizontal or vertical. They way I am getting around orientation is that the postcard prints will be attached (by me) to a 7X7" or 8X8" sheet. The month info will be laser printed into the left bottom corner of this sheet (approx 2.5 X 2.5"in size)....leaving the remaining of the sheet to take either a vertical or horizontal 4X6" print. This way all the calendars can be pre-printed during the summer and ready to go for when your prints arrive. As prints start to arrive, assembly can take place. Re PRINTS-only calendars. Below is what I put out to the group before, I wanted to rephrase that your prints will be attached to a blank 11WX14L sheet. The info in bold below makes it seem that we would be attaching the prints to an already printed calendar month sheet. That is incorrect. The calendar/month info will probably be laser-printed on the reverse side of the sheet that will hold your print. Print size could vary from artist to artist, they will be attached to an 11WX14L blank calendar sheet.....so anything within the dimensions below will fit okay....40 prints to send. The orientation for Landscape or Nudes would be approx. 8" max on the width. Anything much wider would not leave enough of a border around....the minimum width acceptable is approx. 6" (cause I don't want to endup with some real mini prints on a big 11X14 sheet) ....for example you can do a 8W X 11L, or an 8W X 10L , or an 8W X 9L, or a 6W X 11L , etc..... Confusing ? Ok, the largest print you can do is 8W X 11L and the smallest is 6W X 9L.....any dimension in between those ranges is acceptable. Still looking for July & December prints for the PAGE calendar. Approximately five months now left on the work period !!!! thanks...Julio PRINTS-only Calendar - "Landscapes" (40 prints needed), prints will be attached to an 11"W X 14"L calendar sheet pre-printed by the project coordinator with the month info and using a laser printer. Max paper/image width size for print is 8" and max length size is 11". Minimum width size is 6" and minimum length size is 9". Any size format within those ranges is acceptable (ex. 6"W X 11"L ). ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez#walgreens.com Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2003 12:50:13 -0500 Subject: [Baren 21318] Re: calendar dimensions info Ooops...I just realized that I may have been confusing the dimensions given by using the word length instead of the word height. When I refer to a paper max of 8W X 11L..... I meant 8" across the page left to right width (W) and 11" height as in top to bottom lenght (L) The reason for a range of dimensions is to give you flexibility in selecting format and for you to take advantage of your favorite papers. Perhaps a diagram is needed ? thanks....Julio ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne N. We filled both lanes of the main street a few weeks ago, and pretty well overwhelmed the local authorities, and to the almost unanimous support of drivers-by. These rallies have been standard Saturday fare for about a year. For those of us who are citizens of the U.S. and feel terribly under-represented by our (not really) elected officials and the press there is not much more to do that is legal than crank out some posters and be visible. Thank you Mr. Mandela for encouraging us to stay the course. So far the edition is five (ten if you count both sides of the signs) -- four with words, one with just images (for me).
