Congratulations! Carol Lyons artfulcarol#aol.com To Summit Bareners who are going to stay in a hotel. -- if you think staying together as a group is a good idea lets discuss... The hotel list is on the info at Baren Summit with Mikes recommendations. I've looked into some of them... Carol ------------------------------ From: Mike Lyon Date: Thu, 03 Apr 2003 12:01:38 -0600 Subject: [Baren 21207] Baren Summit There have been several off-list questions about the June 14-22 Baren Summit which have found their way into my IN-box... Yes, REGISTRATION is still open! Yes, the Baren Summit is going to be "a blast"! Yes, you'll be very sad if you miss it! So... if you'd like to join Gayle Wohlken, Maria Arango, Ray Hudson, Mike Lyon, John Amoss, Carol Lyons, Kent Kirkpatrick, Sharri LaPierre, Jeanne Chase, Suzanne (Sue) Salsbury, Carole Baker, Barbara Mason, Julio Rodriguez, John Center, David Bull, Colleen Corradi, Wanda Robertson, Mary McCarthy, Richard Stockham, Mary Green and others, then click http://www.barenforum.org/summit to register, even if you only plan to drop in one afternoon to say "HI". There are two commercial AIRPORTS in Kansas City. One (MKC) is located downtown and is much closer to the studio but the runways are too short for today's large jets, so it's used only for private planes and puddle-jumpers. The other (MCI) is about 25 minutes North of downtown and this is the one used by all the big commercial airlines. European and on-line reservation assistance often ask which one you want to fly into (MCI) but regardless of your answer, the same flight will be scheduled into the same airport (MCI). So, unless you are flying a private jet or propeller plane, you will want to fly into Mid-Continent International Airport (MCI) and NOT the downtown airport. HOTELS for those of you who don't want to "Camp-In" in the studio can be linked from the Summit Registration Page at http://www.barenforum.org/summit -- follow the "HOTEL information" link or go directly to http://www.barenforum.org/summit/hotels.htm I've listed the hotels in order of how close they are to my studio. I haven't stayed in any of these, so I can't vouch for them from experience, but I have highlighted three which I thought were particularly interesting. There's a form for EXPEDIA.COM on the registration page. If you use it to arrange travel and/or lodging you will get good prices (for example, the Hampton Inn reportedly gives us more than $10 off their usual rate) and the Baren Mall will receive a commission (so our paper and tool purchases might be even lower cost?). I'm SO much looking forward to seeing you in just a couple of more months!
