Just be careful cutting blocks that the key block and the additional colour blocks all "face" the same direction ... was what I was "trying" to say! This is a woodblock. Most of these prints you can still see the grain of the wood. You could use it as a Puzzle Print - "Where does this little sucker fit in the picture"-type print!!! The commercially printed card is the design of the original woodblock (A4 Size) and to print the postcards I used the original block, rolled with ink and put down a piece of clear acetate (left over from the photocopier) with a square cut out where I wanted to put my printing paper and then used the baren to transfer the sheep head to the postcard. I had postcards made of my exhibition pieces I had in Oyama Japan and sold the postcard packs as the average Japanese person I encountered was buying sets of cards rather than the original print, I think probably because their houses do not have the wall space availability of ours or "you know what?"!!Commercialism. Mine at the time certainly weren't expensive and I Exchanged 18 originals of one of the prints I had there ( a black edition of my Australian animals woodblock that has since been featured in Somerset Studio - Gallery Vol 11 P. 46-48 December 2001) for one woodblock print of each of Hiroshi's students who came to the exhibition. Several of them have since been to Australia and we have exchanged more original prints, so it has definitely snowballed. I have quite a magnificent collection now, but certainly even I haven't the wall space to hang them all. Thank you for asking Carol, Jan ------------------------------ From: Barbara Mason Date: Thu, 26 Dec 2002 23:37:04 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Baren 20233] giclee's again Not about woodblock so delete now if you wish......
