Incidentally, I was just using up some (old?) Speedball ink for the sheep and had problems with it drying up too quickly on the slab which the Graph Chem never does Louise Cass At 09:03 PM 12/10/02 -0500, you wrote: >Help, anyone who uses Graphic Chemical water based black ink: what do you >use to clean up? >Water and soap are useless. :-( >Sorry Dean, but I am frustrated to no end ! > > > >d. dew > > > http://www.LCassArt.com ------------------------------ From: "Lee and Barbara Mason" Date: Wed, 11 Dec 2002 06:44:28 -0800 Subject: [Baren 20082] NYC teacher Dan, Welcome to the baren and you are so lucky to be in NYC. There are two good printmakers there, April Vollmer, who teaches often (and is a funny talented and gracious lady) and Sarah Hauser. I do not know Sarah personally like I do April, but if she is as nice in person as she is on the internet you are in good shape. I am not sure if Sarah teaches, but she certainly is competant as a printmaker. So you are doubly lucky. There are so many resources for you in NYC, I am sure it makes the rest of us jealous! We cannot wait to see what you produce, once you truly become a moku hanga convert...it sort of sneaks up on you and suddenly you are hooked! Best to you, Barbara Mason Portland Oregon ------------------------------ From: Louise Cass Date: Wed, 11 Dec 2002 10:02:56 -0500 Subject: [Baren 20083] sheep & goats Thanks Sarah and Myron for your great sheep prints! I thought I'd have mine on their way soon but I've had a disappointment - In aid of haste (since I'm very busy right now delivering ptgs to various shows) I purchased and used a handy sized material called 'New Improved Speedy-Cut Carving Block Product' (sounds like a butter substitute!) by Speedball. In fact it cut like butter and is rather like the Mars erasers but worse! I seem to fare much better with the resistance of wood -so I may have to make another or if I don't, everyone will have to forgive my strange and childish looking 'sheep grazing' Has anyone else used this product?? I am tempted to take the class, but I have a few questions. Do you have a supply list for the class? (I have a smattering of tools of my own, but I know I don't have everything that would be needed.) Is there storage for students at the shop, or is everything taken back after each class? ( I ask because I would probably be taking the train into the city from LI) These things will help me get an idea of how well I could swing this class along with my MFA classes. I looked at your students works that you have on your website, and think your class looks great. Thank you ahead of time for any help you can give me.
