Baren Digest Thursday, 28 November 2002 Volume 21 : Number 2043 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Lee and Barbara Mason" Date: Wed, 27 Nov 2002 23:32:42 -0800 Subject: [Baren 19997] announcement I am so pleased to let all my friends on Baren know that I am a grandmother, finally! Julia Marie Mason, 7# 9.6oz was born at 8:23 this evening and because things have changed since I had children the whole family (about 15 people) was at the hospital and I got to hold her when she was only one hour old....what a thrill. She is making a very good impression, no doubt destined to become a printmaker! My daughter in law had only 3 hours of labor and wants about 5 more......I know she is just in shock and will no doubt come to her senses in a few weeks! It gets harder as they grow, as they do not come with instructions. All you parents out there can identinfy with this! Or maybe I am just getting old and 6 seems like a lot of kids....no it is a lot! Best to all, Barbara ------------------------------ From: "John and Michelle Morrell" Date: Wed, 27 Nov 2002 23:14:24 -0900 Subject: [Baren 19998] Shipping with Glass from matting discussion Glass does break in shipping. A few of ways to avoid damage are (1) remove the matted piece from the frame and wrap the glass separately, (2) agree with the buyer that s/he will provide his/her own glass and ship the piece without glass, (3) make a big asterisk of strapping tape corner to corner and edge to edge across the glass. Even if your shipper succeeds in breaking the glass, the pieces are less likely to cut into the artwork and matting. Any tape will work better than no tape, but strapping tape seems the easiest to remove.
