Took me 29 trys at concentration...guess I don't have much concentration. Fun to see bareners all over the world, especially people who are listening and not posting. We know you are out there.....this is a great way to let us know where you are! I finally had a free minute to look at this. My printmakers from Australia leave today, we have had a wonderful time and shared a lot of cross cultural information.....their dollar is 1/2 our and 1/3 of that in Europe. Quite expensive for them to visit. I would love to return the visit, but 18 hours on a plane just stops me cold. How far is Japan on a plane???? closer I hope...some day we may all go to see David...wouldn't that be a surprise! Wanda ------------------------------ From: "Tyrus Clutter" Date: Wed, 06 Nov 2002 12:21:04 -0700 Subject: [Baren 19750] Workshop Ok gang, It looks like I will possibly be teaching a workshop on woodcut at a larger workshop on the arts and religion next summer. I'm not certain about the facilities at the center in Santa Fe, those conditions will be coming to me soon. Much to the dismay of several of you, I am not going to make this a hanga workshop (as I am still unfamiliar with that form and am not going to force myself to learn in quickly so that I can teach it in less than a year). Still, I will likely be asking for some help on workshop ideas as time goes on. If we have no press I'll need to think about barens and registration methods which typically don't concern me much these days. Time to go searching through the archives methinks. If that does not work, you may consider upgrading to the next level of your browser. Also there is another piece of html code I can add to the page for those folks whose internet services don't support this stuff at all. Give me till tonight and I'll revamp the page with an option for those that are having problems. It may take care of it. - - Roger...the fun & games pages are not on Baren proper, but rather on my personal server. I did not want to burden the Baren webmasters with my goofy ideas...the zillion downloads of photos/jpgs/htmls,etc needed to make this stuff run....or for that matter takeup Baren resources with this stuff. They been graceful enough to test the pages & applets for me. While the pages have the Baren feel & look...they are not on Baren. If there is enough response and members would like some of this stuff to stick around ....I be happy to ask the webmasters if they would make room on the Baren proper for 'Fun & Games'. - - Georga, your first entry on the map yesterday landed you in the Atlantic somewhere so I moved you over to West Covina, Ca (approx.)...you are the little girl icon near the Mexico border....mouseover any of the icons and a popup rectangle will show you the messages entered. - - John C....I'll change you from a girl to a boy. {;-) - - Cindy W....is a long swim across the Atlantic.....I'll send the Coast Guard out for you... - - Frigid Midget.....cute! Please introduce yourself to the list, we want to know the trick to making prints in sub-zero weather {;-) - - I have editing capabilities on the map...so if anyone made a mistake or would like to have your entry changed somehow let me know off-list. I am hoping for 100+ names by 11/28. - - If you are in a heavy Baren traffic area..Zoom in on the map to spread the icons apart...or click on the icons/dots option to change to dots and spread them out. - - Where are all the Australians ? - - Big thanks to Maria for finding the map link and providing the info... thanks for playing along, more stuff coming..stay tuned....Julio Rodriguez (Skokie, Illinois) ------------------------------ From: Daniel Dew Date: Wed, 06 Nov 2002 15:57:33 -0500 Subject: [Baren 19755] Re: map & stuff.... I see a pattern of aliens emerging in the american southwest....too bad we don't have an Elvis icon {;-) The little flags are fun, I am divided between my cuban roots and my loyalty to the USA...whatever flags you want to choose to select is cool........ Almost forgot.... For those that may want to see what a real pro baren looks like....I remembered putting together a little show page a few years back.
