Baren Digest Friday, 25 October 2002 Volume 21 : Number 2006 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Sharri LaPierre Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 11:10:56 -0700 Subject: [Baren 19651] Re: Baren Digest V21 #2005 Dimitris, Graphic Chemical used to have a library you could rent movies/tapes from for classroom purposes. Maybe Dean could answer this better than I. Wanda, old Bud, you are so right on about the McClain's catalog. It was such fun to see names you recognize from Baren - and from the Northwest Print Council, too - like James Todd. He is such a master at woodcut and wood engravings - work to blow you clean off the planet! You can go on-line to their website and see all the prints from the catalog in color - I'm going there now :-) But, before I go, it was fun to see John Amoss is a MFA student and Associate Editor of the Southern Graphic Council newsletter. Way to go, John. When I went back to school later in life it was such a rewarding experience and I got so much more out of it than in the undergrad days when social life was all important! Just a matter of focus, I guess - but, this experience will be one of the high lights of your life. Highly recommended for all! Would this make for an uneven shrinkage problem, hence messing up registration? I do this all the time with oil based inks and it works fine. Please get in touch .As soon as I get all the resumes I will hand deliver them. I saw the actual Large Exchange Prints when I was visiting with Rudolf last week in North Carolina. The Portfolio is AMAZING!!! My husband and I were impressed (again) with the work of the Baren members. We had a wonderful time with Rudolf and Patricia . I learned about Rudolf's special organizaton and setup for carving and printing in a large format. We had exchanges of information and long art chats, It is quite an unusual experience to meet after e-mailing for a couple of years. What a group! Carol L. Does anybody knows a web page about "Homemade Solar plate printing". I can find pages about the companies that sell those products, but I would prefer to experiment a little. >Hi all, just wanted to let you know that there are some places left in a >one-day solarplate workshop to be held in the NYC area on Sunday, November= 3. > The class will be taught by master printmaker (and original solarplate= guy) >Dan Welden.
