I saw this book on the internet about 18 months ago for $170...a little much for a book you can't look at. But it just sounded so interesting...... It is called "Japanese Woodblock Prints, The Reciprocal Influence between East and West" By Lucille T Webber, publised by Bringham Young University Press. I hunted for it in libraries and book stores for all this time. I finally found a copy in a University Library and tried for months to get to see it, not easy to do if you are not going to school or teaching at a University. I think it is rare just because not very many were originally printed. I was uncuccessful at getting to see it. Then a miracle happened....it came up on a book search and I got it at Powells for $30. Wahooooo!!!!! Anyway it is a good book and I am enjoying it thouroughly. It truly show the influence of Japan on western art and vice versa. The most amazing photo is one of a Van Gough that is a direct copy of Hiroshige's famous bridge woodblock titled "Sudden Shower at Obashi". It may be this book is only fascinating to me because I coveted reading it for so long....but now that I have it, I am a happy camper! Best to all, Barbara ------------------------------ From: Cucamongie#aol.com Date: Tue, 15 Oct 2002 20:50:13 -0400 Subject: [Baren 19573] eraser stuff Hi all, thought you might like to know a fun trick about transfering a design to staedler eraser. Trace over your design in pencil on tracing paper. Then flip the tracing paper over onto the eraser. If you rub the tracing paper, the pencil will transfer to the eraser, and your design will be transferred in reverse. have fun!
