Please count me in for a LACMA viewing party.  LACMA is a WONDERFUL museum,
architecturally.  It is also a reasonable size for viewing.  You could
probably see everything there in a couple of days.  Maria, how thrilling for
you to have a print in a show there!  That's a real fait accompli! (Did I
spell that right?)

Subject: [Baren 19458] Japanese Woodblock Print exhibition 

For those of you near Victoria, B.C., the Victoria Art Gallery is having 
what appears to be two interesting exhibits.

1) Ukiyo-e: Images of a Floating World -- October 11 until November 24

2) Erotica in Japanes Prints - October 11 until November 24

There is no indication of the artists who will be exhibited. With respect 
to the erotica exhibition, there is the following note: "Due to the X-rated 
nature of this exhibition, some visitors may be offended. A wall will 
shield the Erotica in Japanese Prints from those who do not wish to see it."

There will also be a lecture series on Japanese Prints:

a) The History of Printmaking in Japan: Barry Till, Curator of Asian Art -- 
Wednesday, October 16, 1:00 pm.

b) Erotic Images in Japanese Woodblock Prints: Judith Patt -- Wednesday, 
October 23, 1:00 pm.

c) Kabuki Theatre in Japanese Woodblock Prints: Judith Patt - Wednesday, 
October 30, 1:00 pm.

Yep ... just one more reason to visit beautiful Victoria. If anyone is 
planning to attend any of these lectures, or see the exhibits, let me know 
and perhaps we can arrange to get together.

Subject: [Baren 19460] CA in December LACMA Dec. 6-8 

Hey! :)

I was--just last night--two clicks away from buying tickets to fly 
out to CA on the weekend of Friday Dec 6th through Sunday Dec 8th. 

My large wearable/printmaking art piece is in the "Wearable Expressions" 
show at the Palos Verdes Art Center (http://www.pvartcenter.org), and I 
would love to attend that opening, 6-10pm, Friday, Dec. 6.  

Then thoughts of visiting the LA County Museum of Art on Saturday Dec. 7th (or so) 
to see Munikata kept me up until all night, plotting!  (THEN I did some California dreamin'!)

It'd be great if I could meet up with some Bareners during that time, and we could 
make each others' days more full and interesting!  Now I just have to get up the 
willpower to buy the tickets and make the reservations for accommodations.
