Subject: [Baren 17912] transfering images 

I ,too , draw directly on my blocks,
or  some times  adhere my drawing   to the block and carve right through it

with the advent of cameras
an artist need not even BE ABLE to draw anymore
since one can take the pic ,print it out,
slap it on the block and carve it

I think there is an immediacy to drawing on the block
  that makes me more excited about my own work
I find transfering laborious and boring
not to mention an occasion to spend money

if the left/ right of the scene is important
- -such as a well known location
I draw looking at my picture in the mirror.....

"Seahorse"    (duh!  ~original and poetic, eh?)

My head is spinning as we've rounded the four seasons a couple
of times in recent days!  Three days of humid 89'-90' weather,
enough to roast the daffodils on the stem! and now it's a bitter
cold, rainy grey spring/fall, with snow forecast for today! 
(Hopefully just flakes, and nothing more than dusting!)

Astonished birds who accelerated housekeeping activities are
looking for their mittens as they eat wormsicles!

I've used Saral Wax Free Transfer papers in many colors for years. They are 
used to transfer patterns to fabric. among other uses, and great for 
transfering line drawings onto wood. A few years ago I got rolls at 
Charrette's and at The Art Store in New York City. Here's the manufacturer's 
address from the box: Saral paper Corp., 436-D Central Avenue, Bohemia, NY

I'm a new member of Baren. I live in a town called Tom Price in the 
Pilbara in the North East of Western Australia. I have been a print 
maker on and off for quite a few years. I'm very pleased to join Baren
