Especially enjoyed the Flash movie of you with all those letters blowing around... Very eerie! Your webmaster is also an artist! I liked your paintings and prints, too... Nice intaglios, especially! Your openness has answered tons of questions I've wanted to ask but was afraid to for fear of looking like I was prying. It's like meeting a potter who is willing to share his most graded glaze formulation with you without reservations. Thanks. Maurice >Maria, >Thank you for being so open with me about your income. When I look at some of the more prolific members here that are doing well, in the business sense, they all seem to have found a niche (theme, style ?) to follow in their work. Matt Brown does local landscapes of places close to home, Sarah Hauser has a whole theme devoted to dogs and other animals, David Bull does reproductions of old masters, April Vollmer is developing a mixed digital-woodcut approach in the hanga style. Others are doing work based on Gospels, or lighthouses or whatever....but certainly in most cases there is an unifying force that brings the works together. In some cases it may not be a theme but rather a very special technique or a passionate approach to printmaking that bowls everyone over. Maria Arango has not just one main concentration of work, but several themes that (a quick surf of her webiste gallery can attest to this, Rats, Vessels, Out-of-the-Wood, western landscapes, etc.. ) continue to influence her works. I think that this is very attractive to perspective buyers and collectors. There is an upcoming article in the next Barensuji newsletter on Maria's wonderful "madness", not to be missed! thanks... The newer we become the older we are. I've used gold foil with oil based litho print. Basically, after the ink was dry, I brushed foiling glue down and laid the foil over the top of it, then carefully brushed the excess foil off after the glue had dried. Then burnish it with a smoothing tool. It is labor intensive and time consuming........ not to mention what it does to one's brain by the time you finish with the edition :>) Juan, I was able to access your page, but it is really slow loading and was very difficult for me to maneuver since I speak no Spanish. I did manage to find images of work, which is wonderful, but it was so unbearably slow, (and I have cable modem) - or I am too impatient. The work was worth the effort, though! The only place I've found it so far is on Amazon for $100, which is out of my price range! best wishes Sarah ------------------------------ From: Charles Morgan Date: Thu, 04 Apr 2002 18:42:10 -0800 Subject: [none] Sarah, I asked about this a week or so ago. I had one offer to xerox a few pages for me, but no one could find a copy. I did get it through inter-library loan, but would like a copy to keep around. I emailed the author. He replied that he would not be doing a new addition for a year. But he also indicated he had a video for sale on the topic. I have not seen the video. Sooooo, if you manage to find a source, please let me know. In the meantime, I want to try electro-etching. I have visited the various websites, and it does not look too complicated. But I was wondering if there is a book on the topic anyone can recommend. Suggestions, PLEASE .... Sorry for being a bit off topic for woodblock prints ... it was Sarah's fault ... Cheers ....... If you are patient enough it might be worthwhile to wait. If you are just looking for information about the process, tips and how to do instructions, you can refer to Howard's non toxic printmaking site. http://www.mtsu.edu/%7Eart/printmaking/non_toxic.html or have a look at: http://www.art.cofa.unsw.edu.au/print/ImagonPage/ImagonNotes.html michael vienna/ austria Cucamongie@aol.com wrote: >Hi folks, anyone know where I can get a hold of Keith Howard's Non-toxic Intaglio printmaking book?
