Baren Digest Saturday, 19 January 2002 Volume 18 : Number 1690 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: GraphChem@aol.com Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 09:28:34 EST Subject: [Baren 16724] Re: a shameless plug Maria - Thanks for the plug. We do try to make life a little easier for printmakers. Although we don't always send full sheet samples, you only need to ask for them, and to the degree that we can, we'll accomodate you. IF that sounds like a politician, there's a good reason for it. Not having enough to do to fill my time, and having taken total leave of my senses, I have decided to make a run for the Illinois General Assembly as a State Representative! It's a crowded primary race, so if any of you have friends or relatives in central DuPage County, IL please let them know to vote for me. (You're sure that this is what you want? ;-)) Good luck! It doesn't print color and since many of my images are in color I thought this would be a great way to use it. I did enjoy the texture and feel of it. Unfortunately I don't remember where I purchased it. I do remember it was very expensive at the time but I needed it for color prints and it didn't make the grade. I'm glad you liked it....Ruth ------------------------------ From: "nancy osadchuk" Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 18:53:12 -0700 Subject: [Baren 16728] Re: Baren Digest V18 #1689.. Sarah was inquiring about painting on a fiber glass dog. Type in Udderly Art in your search engine, and you should get some information on Calgary's project a couple of years ago.. autobody shops were a help with sanding and also some autobody paints were used. These were oil based, but other artists used acrylic and latex paints with success. Contacting the artists would probably be helpful. I understand Chicago had a similar project prior to ours. Our very hairy black mutt, Sammy, and I just got back from our evening walk. It's snowing like crazy in Kansas City right now. Those giant fluffy kind of flakes which just drift slowly down and collect inches thick even on the slenderest branches. What a magical world we live in! Sammy shouted that it was "a crazy, terrific, madly exciting world we live in" as he dashed around skidding and throwing up great clouds of white and leaping and dancing wild-eyed and sniffing everything so thoroughly up that his steaming black muzzle was shot snow white... Ahhh, what a great night! Wanted to let you know that the Exchange 12 prints from Maria Arango and David Mohallatee have arrived. I haven't gotten into the boxes yet (David's smells suspiciously inky!), but the exteriors are in excellent condition, so I think it is safe to assume that the interiors are in the same condition as when you packed them up. Thank you both! To all you others... 13 DAYS LEFT !! If you live outside the USA, you'd better post those babies off to me, like YESTERDAY, man, 'cause Feb 1 is almost here !! - -- Mike ------------------------------ From: John and Jan Telfer Date: Sat, 19 Jan 02 17:25:15 -0000 Subject: [Baren 16731] Re: Maria Arango & David Mohallatee Exchange 12 arrived! Dear All, >It's snowing like crazy in Kansas City right now. And Down Under I am just about to go for a swim in 30o .... It is a beautiful day here, too, bright bright sunlight, no clouds, clean fresh air and a slight breeze blowing off the Indian Ocean...where's that, you say? Well, open the atlas and Perth is not next to Sydney or Melbourne, but on the south western point of Western Australia. It's a great place to visit. We don't have snow in Western Australia, except for the exceptional year around Junish time but only in Albany 6 hours away. I can't believe Exchange #12 has not passed it's "use by date" !! I think I was a year younger when I did mine well before Christmas! Must have a swim. I am coming back to Bootcamp...this June 2002. So I hope to see some of you this year.
