I went back into the files and looked up the original Exchange that happened in 1998 - started and planned in 1997 - I looked at the list of First Timers - very impressive!! Please look at this page: http://barenforum.org/exchange/exchange_99/exchange_frame.html I would love to welcome many of you/them back into the Exchange game for 2002. I'm leaving for Charleston, SC on Monday (son getting married) and don't know if I cam get this discussion well underway before then. We could do a complete repeat of the first 13 - except with the new topics we agreed on in 2001 - Please think about what you'd like to see happen and we'll talk about it at the beginning of the new year. Those who know me might remember that I had some trouble last year losing my studio/house and haven't been able to do as much printing as I used to do. Consequently I have just finished printing my year of the snake cards a year late and will be sending them out over the next week to the people who have sent me their snakes, John Ryrie ------------------------------ From: "G. Wohlken" Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2001 22:02:17 -0500 Subject: [Baren 16539] Article on Marco Marco Flavio Marinucci is in Italy and wrote to me from a cyber cafe. He asked that I share this link with all of you, which is an article about Marco and his woodblock printmaking. This appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle on December 10 and reports on his demonstration at the Presidio Officers' Club Exhibition Hall for the "Japan at the Dawn of the Modern Age: Woodblock Prints From the Meiji Era, 1868-1912 Exhibition. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2001/12/10/DD87973.DTL Also in the article we learn more about how Marco became interested in woodcuts and hanga. Nice going, Marco! Gayle Ohio, USA ------------------------------ From: Wanda Date: Fri, 21 Dec 2001 19:11:50 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16540] Re: a late snake Welcome back, John! I hope your living/printing situation is a lot better now. I (for one) will be looking forward to receiving some more snakes! [:-)] I've been receiving both snakes & horses the last few days. These are so much fun. A horse card from Nancy Wilson & Rick Harrison came today. Very colorful & professional looking. I must confess I haven't even started carving mine. I hope to send them out with the "year of the horse" stamp on the envelope. I keep all the envelopes, etc. It really adds to the enjoyment. Frank Trueba - I'll bet your horse was admired all the way from Scotts Valley to Molalla, Oregon! The transparent envelope is a really nice touch! With the sending out of #11 & #11.5, we will soon be knee-deep in flora! Better than any Christmas present. Joy to all! Wanda John Ryrie wrote: > It's been a while since you've heard from me.
