Thanks, Graham PS The silence is ... well you know! Is the fun gonna start sometime soon.? Is nobody having any problems? Ah ah.... maybe nobody is working these days. Then again maybe everybody knows it all..... PPS So does this to equate down to we are all know it alls? - o<: ------------------------------ From: "bemason" Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2001 23:15:18 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16130] Re: Baren Mall Graham. I am looking after the mall...sort of...mostly it just looks after itself. Maria did it for the first year. But I have the bank account now. We have about $500, which is no small thing considering we get it in such small amounts! At the end of the year I will make an accounting of sorts to the list as a whole. This money is to be used to help with exhibits, frames, and whatever we decide to do with it. Eventually we will probably be a non-profit, if we live long enough. It sure takes time, the wheels of government move pretty slowly. best to all, Barbara > Who is looking after the Mall these days? > ------------------------------ From: "bemason" Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2001 23:40:50 -0800 Subject: [Baren 16131] quiet times Hi everyone, The baren is very quiet lately. I think the whole internet is quiet. We are still all dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 and the ongoing war in Afganistan. Sort of makes talking about ink and paper and carving seem unreal. I think that a lot lately, life has taken on a sort of ethereal haze. We are all pretending to go back to "normal" but we are all edgy and sort of turned in when we should be reaching out! I have done an entire body of etchings with solarplates that my studio assistant tells me looks like broken buildings and reminds her of NY. This was not a conscious intent, interesting she would see that in it. I swore I would never wipe plates as I hate having my hands in ink, just goes to show you, never say never. Actually I am also printing #11.5 and having a little registration problem. The key block is off by about 1/16 of an inch. I am using a registration board for the kento, so have planned to print all the plates the other way around, upside down and shim the key plate. Those of you who get this print will see my stress.....or maybe this will work and no one will ever know. It is four plates so pretty ambitious and I am late. Rats. This at least is normal. Hope you are all well and printing up a storm. Best to all, Barbara ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V17 #1614 *****************************
