Maybe max size would be 5" x 7"? I will help as much as possible. I agree that this should not be an exchange, merely a donation. If individual members want to exchange prints, they can do it privately. Daniel L. Dew http://www.dandew.com/ ddew@tampabay.rr.com > From: "Elizabeth B. The heart of all of the Bareners show through the pouring out of thoughts, poems etc, since the Sept. 11.tragedy. Lost power because of the tropical storm Gabrielle which left over 50% of our city without power for four days. Hundreds of beautiful trees were toppled and the clean up has taken up our time. So our news coverage was drastically ended until late yesterday. Just got on the net to read the heartfelt wishes from our members. Please count me in , in whatever projects anyone dreams up to benefit all of the victims of the "disaster". A seperate exchange for the firefighters would be a wonderful tribute. How we can successfully do this is the question?? Also, hope that this could be a mix of media, beyond woodblock printing. Although , as Gayle mentioned, it is difficult to find American flags (I cannot either). That is a good thing now. At least America is coming together as we did on Dec 7th, 1942. We flew in on Monday and subsequently were marooned in the heartland. We had return plane tickets for last week sometime and we all know what happened. It was also difficult to rent a car on a one-way 1300 mile trip, as many of the car rental agencies were hoarding their cars locally. In any case, a minor inconvenience, considering the circumstances. Interestingly, the drive was somehow cleansing and reassuring that America is still here and standing strong. Old Glory paved the way, fluttering in the breeze everywhere we went. Some small towns had so many flags flying proudly that it seemed like the 4th of July all across the West. Some gas stations had lowered their gas prices to .99/gallon, aiding those of us on our quest for home. Every sign-board at every possible location (gas stations, fast foods, etc) proclaimed "God bless America" or "Honoring the lost" or something similar. There was a strange and beautiful return to civility as a way of life, it seemed. Everyone was friendlier and helpful and twice we received free food after the conversation revealed that we were trying to return home. The entire trip was heart-warming, touching and hopeful for yet a better society. Anyhow, count me in for any print project concerning the renewal of our peaceful world. I am in the process of revisiting the Baren rules for exchanges with input from past coordinators. We will leave #12 as a regular Baren Exchange and I would like to remind members that sign-up starts on October 1, 2001 - look at http://barenforum.org/exchange/index.html I am more than willing to help you with this print project as well. The normal process is to open enrollment for an exchange for a period - if you want it open until you reach 30 - that's fine. You should have a wait list if you want to keep the # of prints at 30 though - people do drop out for a number of reasons. There usually is a three month print time with the coordinator checking periodically to learn if people are on target. If you don't hear back from people I suggest you drop them and move on to the wait list. I believe you would like to receive the prints when expected. I suggest that people let you know when the prints have left home to join up with their fellows. You can ask wait list folks to fill in if the prints are not received on time. Anything else you'd like help with? I will try.
