I would hate to receive some prints that the paper size is 22 x 30 and the image size is 4 x 6. dan dew > From: "Jean Eger" > Count me in for a large print exchange. Anybody else ? I think the larger prints, Rudolf, would be cost prohibitive for a lot of us. But there may be some who could do it, and it would be interesting for those who do like to work large to have an opportunity to take part in an oversized exchange. It would take up more room for the coordinator, though, and be more expensive to send the prints out, unless they could go into sturdy mailing tubes. And even then I don't know the difference in postal costs. I just thought with only 10-12 stragglers in EVERY exchange that it was time to revamp the system. I have prints in the swap shop too, waiting waiting waiting... I'm in for a full-sheet exchange! I bet you get enough people interested ! And thanks for the pat on the back re; my etching and New Things page. We all need a little pat once in awhile. Marco Your new updated web page is great, but of all the portraits, I was looking for a Self Portrait??????Like the way you crop the head studies. Josephine; Try again, as most everyone has been able to get the page going; http://www.jeannenormandchase-art.com The cemetary is worth the trip. It is so beautiful. And many thanks for the prose. I printed it out, as I am about to do a series where I will need a few quotes. Just like the ones that you posted. Very moving! David you are soo lucky to have captured those prints. What are you going to do with them. Everyone seems to have different ideas. They are quite lovely. 140 sheets, wow. Michelle I am fascinated by the aquatint effect that you get with the spackle on your wood. I will try it. Where can we see a sample? Can you post it somewhere on your website? Trying to reply to all in one post. We tried going to a larger edition size (40) on PA due to demand and it was a big step from 30 to 40 prints. An extra ten doesnt sound much but it is. No real difference in postage costs, and an extra 30% of prints for the co-ordinator to handle. Also multiply the delays by 30% and it makes for a longer wait for everyone. The reason we tried this was that in the exchange before we did the method where each sent in 16 and got 16 back, with many participants. What we found with this one was that people were dissappointed that they only got part of the whole set. And although we took great pains to ensure that the spread of prints among people was fair and to the taste preferences of the people concerned - people were still wishing they had 'that print' as well as the ones they got. It took a lot of extra time and effort to organise too, beyond the usual mammoth co-ordinators effort. Until you have run an exchange, you dont really have an indication of the amount of behind the scenes work involved. You quickly become aware of the inherent problems with exchanges and you trial various solutions to them, with varied success. (right Dan?) Having said all that, my point is that if a system is working, dont 'fix' it. My gut feeling on this is that if there are more than 30 people interested, we should accept all of them and then split the group in half or so, with a limit of 30 per group. Draw names from a hat to decide who goes in which group. Print Australia would be happy to run a 'sister' exchange to Flora, given sufficient demand. We could call it 'Flora Too' and run it concurrently. "Salon" is too suggestive of selection/rejection for me. Give me a show of hands offlist and if there's enough demand, we can do it. I sometimes do larger editions but always find them to be a chore. Something to do with my attention span....after 30 want to start a new print. What wonderful images. I ordered it site unseen from ABE books and am thrilled with the images. Truly amazing. I had seen a piece or two but nothing to compare with all these images. Amazing to see how he leaned toward cubism toward the end of his life. He did his work in the 30's. What a great book. Just wanted to share my excitement. I will report after I read it all.... I am on number 131 at present. Anyhow, a flamencoish flavored print: http://www.1000woodcuts.com/fullsize/viva.html A depressing one, just to keep myself balanced: http://www.1000woodcuts.com/fullsize/struck.html And back to a good mood with colorful woodpeople: http://www.1000woodcuts.com/outwood/owgallery3.html I also have finished about 25 more itty-bitty-tiny prints from recent hikes but they aren't uploaded yet. I would like to hire a webmaster, an accountant, a framer, a strong guy to set up my booth at art fairs (and pose for me)...oh yeah, and an agent.
