It seems the URL provided isn't working. Can you check again and maybe provide the FULL address? i.e. http://www.dandew.com/ thanks, dan dew ------------------------------ From: GWohlken Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 09:11:22 -0500 Subject: [Baren 12694] Re: Baren Digest V13 #1263 Sarah, that's a nice looking website. I enjoyed reading about you and how you work, then seeing the images. I am surprised how big some of them are. I very much like the sketchy ones. That seems like a difficult thing to do in wood. It looks as if you did a quick pencil sketch. Very nice! * * Thanks, people, for information on ochre etching ink and the fact that not all etching inks have the same consistency. ** > I would sure want to be in a can in that condition... (<: I knew when I wrote that word "runny" (about the consistency of the ochre etching ink) a joke might come from somewhere! Graham, nice to hear your voice again, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! * * > 'Hi mom'! Dave, I'll bet your Mom will have all the neighbors gathered around the TV to watch the Discovery show on Hanga. I don't know anyone with cable, so I'll miss it. Maybe I'll ask the Amish if they have a tv hooked up to a generator of some kind that's hooked up to cable somehow. :-) Gayle ------------------------------ From: Claude Villeneuve Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 10:06:36 -0500 Subject: [Baren 12695] Re:Japanese Paper Hi Dan: The full address for the Japanese Paper Place is http://www.japanesepaperplace.com/ I hope it works! The only way I could find it, would be to sit in front of the Discovery Channel all the time. Wouldnt you think that they would put out some kind of information? I am still looking though!!! Our Dave Bull is a celebrity!! Jeanne N. ------------------------------ From: "Daniel L. I am very impressed with the work the Woman Made Gallery is producing. And, Graham! What a treat to run into your most welcome, and sincerely missed, humor - And, Gail - each of my etching inks are of a different consistency - governed by the pigment. Earth colors are touchy and if too much pigment is put in they print very opaque and ugly - they need lots of oil to be a compatable transparency with other hues. I seldom purchase relief inks; etching or litho ink works just as well, sometimes straight out of the can or by altering it with oil or CaCo3. However, now that I've discovered Green Drop Inks, I use them for everything and have soap & water clean up. You might check them out at safeink.com. I found out a great place in San Francisco's Chinatown (cheap too) to get chops made, they'll carve them while you wait if you're not busy and can cost as little as $25 which includes the stone, carving, stamping ink, and a lovely little box. The place is called Kee Fung Ng Gallery, 757 Grant Avenue, SF, CA telephone 415-343-1844. Lynita, I will be sure to tell folks who see Penny on my website to send on treats, etc to the real "model" for the print :) best wishes all, Sarah ------------------------------ From: Legreenart@cs.com Date: Sat, 30 Dec 2000 00:32:37 EST Subject: [Baren 12701] Re: Baren Digest V13 #1262 Dear Jean, I was introduced to "Setswell" by Leslie Kopcho, an excellent wood relief oil based ink printer. Have used it ever since. It can be used in addition to the burnt plate oil, seems to set the ink on the paper nicely... It is by either Rembrant or Graphic chemical, can't remeber now. Finally ready to edition snakes. It takes me forever to be happy with preliminary sketches sometimes, and this is one of those times.
