Baren Digest Tuesday, 26 December 2000 Volume 13 : Number 1260 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: B Mason Date: Mon, 25 Dec 2000 10:52:54 -0800 Subject: [Baren 12653] Happy Christmas Good Morning All and Happy Day to you. I know this message goes to many who don't celebrate our American Christmas, but I am sure they celebrate the wishes of peace and goodwill that flow with such abandon on this day. Too bad we can't have peace and goodwill everyday as our first thought! I was up half the night as usual getting everything done and slept in until 9:30 this morning, such a sinful thing to do and only allowed because all our children are grown and no one woke me up after only 3 hours of sleep to open presents. Dan, congratulations on getting that calendar, I saw it a few months ago and got one for both Wanda and I. We got ours at Powells.I sure enjoyed Megan's print, what a sweetie. Almost makes you forgive her for the VCR doesn't it? Dave, all of us on Baren are so excited for you, snagging this great living space. I know you never thought you would get out of that tiny apartment. Are you still going to wait for the girls to arrive to move? Or will it be all done when they get there? We wish we could come and help, a great Baren moving party!!!! I am going to make a little Christmas bread this morning, full of fruit and abundance for the New Year. It always seems to start for me the day after Christmas, boxing day fo our friends in Canada and England. This seems the true New Year for me, a time to get busy and start on the next one. And no shopping allowed, no matter how good the sales. Wishing all of you peace, joy and your heart's desire, Barbara ------------------------------ From: Greg Carter Date: Mon, 25 Dec 2000 14:44:56 -0500 Subject: [Baren 12654] Re: etching ink in relief Georga, I happen to add a little 00 burnt plate oil to mine. What a fantastic Christmas present! Howard and I sat and looked at them this morning. He is so enthusiastic that he wants to enter the "Year of the ?" postcard exchange next year. I was wondering what kind of paper Mike Lyons and John Amoss used for that exchange. Bea, you really outdid yourself on that print: seven blocks? What a beautiful and funny print--the mom accidentally kills the lizard instead of catching it in the coffee can. Oh, the terrible trials and guilt feelings of life. When we see it in art, we know it happens to everyone. The forum should focus on woodcut, but with discussion allowed of all kinds of relief printmaking. The high level of discussion is very gratifying to professional artists. We should try to encourage creatvity by allowing freedom of speech. Merry Christmas day to everyone!
