Baren Digest Monday, 25 December 2000 Volume 13 : Number 1259 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ From: Vollmer/Yamaguchi Date: Sun, 24 Dec 2000 10:20:19 -0400 Subject: [Baren 12647] Re: Baren Digest V13 #1258 Jean, I will be out in your neighborhood again! Kala Art Institute in Berkeley invited me to give another weekend hanga woodcut class the weekend of March 31/April 1. I have been teaching using the Power Grip tools, which are the closest I've found to the expensive Japanese ones, at $7 apiece. Barens are always the problem, I wish I could find some for under $40. I look forward to spring and being in California. It has been pretty cold and dark here in NYC! I'm inside all the time, working on the computer. I need that view of the Pacific Ocean! Happy New Year to all. I plan to put them all up in my dining area so that I can just look at them for awhile before archiving them.... there are just to many to frame and hang ... at least in my house. Though, maybe I'll do a rotation system. I want lots of people to enjoy them. My special thanks to Jeanne and Dan..... I appreciate all your efforts and it was well worth the wait. Back to my e-mail problem.... think I will change servers but until I do my new e-mail address is: paterab@hotmail.com Barbara P ------------------------------ From: Aqua4tis@aol.com Date: Sun, 24 Dec 2000 16:34:04 EST Subject: [Baren 12649] Re: [Baren hi everyone is it possible to use etching ink in relief printing? can i thin it with something? happy holidays georga ------------------------------ From: Arafat Alnaim Date: Sun, 24 Dec 2000 13:49:13 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Baren 12650] etching ink in relief Dear Georga, Yes you can and the results are fantastic. The ink in this situation is serving as material for drawing and reserve for the surface form being bitten. I try to find you some reference regarding that from Prof. Franzini who developed an approach in this aspect. We're snowed in and it's a good night to look at the lights on the tree and be grateful for warm places and little work tables.
