Very interesting. Dave, thanks for posting this encyclopedia entry. Sorry if I'm repeating myself. Meanwhile it's back to lurking for me. Jury duty calls. Karen - ------------------------------ Jean, when you say "relief ink" do you mean water based? I like to stick to water based paints. Do you think it would work on fabric? Even though my quilts aren't meant to be washed like bed quilts I always have to be aware that someday someone will try. For collagraph I was looking for a paint that was water soluble but would become permanent when dry, that wouldn't dry too fast so I would have plenty of time to ink the plate, (textile paints dry on the plate before I finish inking), and would not make the fabric stiff. I'm always looking for a better way. Michelle, you are not alone. Most people connect the word quilt with patchwork bed coverings, and why not. Mine don't go on beds though, and neither do most of the art quilts being made today. Think fiberart. I was in a show once called "Up Against the Wall, Mother's Covers", but that's another story. Actually I lie. I am making a bed quilt right now for the first time in over 10 years. It's a commission I couldn't turn down because it's for some very big print collectors and I really wanted to have something in their collection even if it goes on their bed. The curse of vanity!
