The artist who really took this technique to its ultimate is Remedios Varo, a Spanish painter who fled to Paris during the Spanish Civil War, and then to Mexico when WWII encroached - she couldn't return to Spain because she had been in the resistance and Franco didn't favor her kind. She credited one of her lovers or husbands with the invention of the technique, I believe it was Lizzaraga. Anyway, the technique is indeed sandwiching pigment between canvas and paper and then seeing where it goes. There is a website for Varo, and a great book, Unexpected Journeys by Janet Kaplan, available thru Amazon & others. /www.ed.uiuc.edu/courses/EdPsy387-Sp95/steven-clark/project/varo/varo.html Maria, you want results of the Quiz from the fantastic newletter?
