Sending you positive vibes Sarah ------------------------------ From: Bella1yopp@aol.com Date: Mon, 15 May 2000 11:55:51 EDT Subject: [Baren 9662] Re: Bea I am also sorry to hear about your leg. I too know the pain of a broken leg! Although the pain of not going to Italy makes it so much more. Good luck in your recovery, printing, and painting. And soon you will be running through the streets of Rome. - -Amanda ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez@walgreens.com Date: Mon, 15 May 2000 13:39:43 -0500 Subject: [Baren 9663] Skokie Exhibit comes down I have been away for a while attending to some pressing (is that another word for printmaking ?) stuff. Just wanted to let everyone know that the Skokie Exhibit came down on 05/05 (two days later than planned!) to end what turned out to be a very well received show here. Contrary to the fear of some (Sharen...are you back ?) none of the prints were damaged or stolen (although Ray Hudson's portrait was found in a back room covered with shattered glass...possibly a victim of some admiring staff member ....the print itself was unharmed!). Our show has given way to a slightly smaller exhibition of paintings and mixed media from the surrounding communities commemorating the new Millennium. As a result of the show, I have been contacted by one the local artist association (Skokie Arts Guild) to give a demo/lecture on woodblock printmaking next January (a paying job!).....and another [Baren] exhibit in downtown Chicago is a possibility for next year at the main Chicago library; Harold Washington Public Library.......the one that had the traveling Fritz Eichenberg exhibit last winter.... For those of you that I have prints or tools to return or exchange, [baren] with me a few more days while I attend to another "pressing" matter and I will be contacting you soon privately. All those of you participating in the exhibit (22 overseas & 75 total)...will be receiving a small care package from me later in June with stuff from the exhibit..... Thanks to all for making this event a reality.........Julio ------------------------------ From: "Bill H. I guess Italy will just have to be kept on hold now. Now you can really do some printing. Have not ever done printing in a sit down mode. Keep smiling , things have a way of righting themselves. Nice to know that good things came out of the show. Golly, are you thinking of curating another show? Pretty soon some museum will hire you!! If you are going to send a care packange to almost 100 artists. We should all compensate you for the postage. That is a hug e task!! Thanks Again and again for all the hard work!!! Let's not start up all that talk about expenses and money, etc... we are fine here.. .....I'll take a cue from your last sentence and take a bunch of hugs instead {:-) Julio ------------------------------ From: slinder@mediaone.net Date: Mon, 15 May 2000 19:44:23 -0500 Subject: [Baren 9668] Exchange #6 cases Others participating in Exchange #6 might be more alert than I! I may be the last participant to note that today is the deadline for the cases! Yikes! Yikes! > Don't panic guys! I just called up Toda-san, the guy who makes the cases for us, and got his 'schedule' ... He sez that he's not so busy these days, so that gives us a little bit of leeway. I've just updated the Exchange #6 page with a new deadline for ordering a case - the end of this month. That will be _firm_. I'll place the order on June 1st, for as many cases as have been ordered by that time. I should also mention that I chatted with him about changing the format of the case this time ... The print dimensions are relatively small, and he's got some pretty nifty little samples there in his shop that would be suitable for our print set this time ... So I should warn you that the case may not be 'exactly as described' on that page. But trust me, you won't be disappointed! And even though the yen is taking a bit of a beating against your US$ these days, we're going to hold the price firm. Thanks for the 'heads up' note, Sharen ... I'm just writing a little not to let you all know that I am withdrawing from the #6 exchange. I just can't keep up with what's going on these days (so busy). so please allow the next person(s) on the list to participate :) been great knowing some of you, some others are not so lucky to be rid of me quite yet. I'll still be participating in some other exchanges, but for now I've gotta cut Baren out. thanks for everything!! :) keri marion ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V11 #1009 *****************************
