No, not a heat wave here in soon to be snowed over Chicago......(9 - 12" expected for tonight!) but rather a bit nervous about my son's demo today. He's doing a speech/demo on woodblock printmaking at school and went off with many of my tools, paints, etc. He did a small woodblock last night and scratched his way thru a little design of his own. This morning I gave him some woodblocks and a few prints to pass around to the class including some of Dave's Surimono prints........really, really sweating this out!.......I don't think they will have much difficulty figuring out which are my prints and which are Dave's (HaHa....). I hope everything makes it back home okay!!! So there Dave, your prints have now been introduced to a whole class of 7th graders at East Prairie grammar school..........all the way from Tokyo-Japan to Skokie-USA. You will soon be known as the Johnny Appleseed of woodblock printmaking! On a couple of the nights artists set up their own art work on tables and hundreds of artists printmakers mill around look at your work and ask questions. It is a great opportunity to see what others are doing and to get feedback on your own work. > >What can I expect to see in the Printmaking Product Fair? books, presses, all sorts of supplies > >How much is the price of a Scotch whisky dose in Miami? :>)# It depends on the size of your "dose." What I know about print exchanges at the conferences they can be a mixed bag or preplanned competition. I participated in a "mixed bag" type at the last MAPC conference. What you do for those is make a set number (about 10) of an editioned print in a certain size then turn that into the committee and they split out your print among the hundreds that are turned in. The next day you go a pick up your exchange packet. Generally, no two packets are the same. The preplanned ones are invitational or competitioned participation. Check registeration information for parameters. jaimelee ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez@walgreens.com Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 19:36:17 -0600 Subject: [Baren 8483] re: Important Skokie exhibit announcement I have put together a tentative list of all the participating bareners for the Skokie exhibit. In my MS browser the default color for web links is blue....and then when I click on the url it changes to the vlink color default which in my case is purple/violet. The names without the hyperlinks should all be in black. My browser "remembers" which sites I have visited before. I have been writing some Java code to create dynamic HTML pages from our Oracle database at work based on remote-user input......and creative guy that I am I thought I test my code against "our" data. The program loops thru an arrray of raw data (first name, last name, city, etc) and using stylesheets creates the actual web page you see......Unfortunately in my haste to get this out before I left work it hiccup on me a couple of times......and I had to do a little cut & paste.....just a little! It is still a work in progress with more features to be added....check back in a day or so...for updates In the meantime....thanks for the corrections....
