Dwight, if you seal the wood with shellac it can be inked in oil and cleaned back to looking brand new with non-toxic cleanup or yucky turps, whichever you prefer. I have no idea how shellac works with the pigment/paste thingy, however as I have yet to try it. Non-toxic cleanup has been discussed here before, but basically you use vegy oil and then clean off the oily residue with soap and water or window cleaner. If you de-grease with meths it will dilute the shellac of course. Keep hacking away at that ply there boyo, I bet its better than my last effort ;-) Maria said >I'm one of those oilyfolk. Maria, I have used a 'transparent white' oil ink to produce nice light transparent colours that layered beautifully. It was Vanson brand ink, from memory.
