I'm in the midst of printing my guys who look rather like they're on a sugar high from being trapped in a Fruit Loops box too long. Let the fun begin! There is a place in Sydney called 'Wills Quills' William stocks paper ink etc for oriental as well as western calligraphy. He has a much better stock of Chinese papers than I can get in Melbourne an may well have some Japanese papers. I don't know anything about this green cleaning stuff only that anything green will attract Giant Trolls, so you could end up in the same boast as Dutch. I do however have some advice about cleaning up if you are using oil based inks. The thing is to get as much of the ink off as you can before using any solvents. I use a scraping blade this is the square type that is used to scraping dry paint, or registration stickers off glass. Not a Stanley knife, the one with the square retractable blade they are very cheep. You can get most of the ink off the glass or what ever you have rolled your ink on to with that, it will also get the ink off the spatula. Wipe the ink off onto some paper. With the roller, I roll as much of the ink off onto paper as I can. . I use an old phone book. The block will only have a thin layer of ink. Only then wen I have got as much ink off as I can do I putt some turps onto a rag and clean everything down, and it takes very little. Just enough to clean up, but still enough to deter Trolls. Mine is being quite obstinate about coming out from between the plys. He even pops little bits of the shina off - just to irritate me, I'm sure. But he is slowly taking shape (horrible shape, though it is). I sure hope these dragons don't foul the xmas mail up *too* badly! I see some scorched Christmas cards in the USPS's future.....the little rascals! Wanda ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V9 #812 ***************************
