Here are some words of wisdom gleaned from an artist's magazine. It's about entering art works in competitions. 1. enter your best print 2. chose a picture with effective design and contrast 3. avoid complicated or subtle images 4. submit only a technically top-notch work 5. avoid trite subjects 6. do submit a unique subject matter or do an ordinary subject in a. extraordinary way b. a subject that stirs emotion 7. offer something special in vision, attitude or color 8. send a good slide: use silver tape to block out the non-picture area, if you have to. The cover is filled with a wonderful woodcut by Annemie Curlin called "Slow Change"--winter trees, the moon, stars. 1-800-426-6740 or www.danielsmith.com Ray ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V9 #761 ***************************
