Baren Digest Monday, 27 September 1999 Volume 08 : Number 720 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Gayle Wohlken Date: Sun, 26 Sep 1999 09:53:54 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [Baren 6001] The FRIEDA Book and the party After dinner last night in a wonderful old New England Inn with all the 18 members of family present, we gave Frieda her gifts for her 90th Birthday. We presented the book last of all the wonderful gifts, and when she saw the cover she exclaimed, "Why, that looks just like me when I was a little girl." Then Jim, who is an excellent reader, read the first story, "The Red Devil" (about a doll she had when she was small--an ugly doll that her German grandfather called "The Red Devil"--Der Teufel. It was a funny story, we laughed and Frieda laughed with us. And her book received a round of applause that rang through the Inn. What a night for Frieda, and I'm so glad we made that book. I had made two others for Jim's brothers so they will have books to pass down through their children. Remember the Hound? Look where he showed up this past Friday--on the cover of the entertainment pages of the Star Beacon here in Geauga County. The young man in the photo is Shane, my son, who has a big part in the upcoming Geauga Lyric Guild production of "The Hound of the Baskervilles". http://woodblock.com/temporary/hound.jpg Gayle ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V8 #720 ***************************
