Subject: [Baren 5214] Baren #2 exchange 

  I've been a bit backlogged with my e-mail, but scanned the headlines &
so knew when to expect my Baren 2 portfolio.  Trouble was, we were leaving
early for a long weekend camping, which left me all pins and needles with
anticipation.  Well, it was waiting for me, and I did manage to run
through it two or three times before unpacking.  My delight and
appreciation grows each time; I'm still waiting for a quiet moment with a
cup of tea to truely grok them.
  One of my pleasures during the hours
working on my print was perhaps a half dozen really useable ideas that
occured to me.  With this collection, full of directions I haven't
persued or even imagined, I'm sure at least that many more will come.  It
is a wonderful pleasure to be part of this.  I feel a substantive
communication with the printmakers represented here, and THANK EACH
OF YOU, John for his efforts coordinating it, and Dave for his insightful
words.  
  I strongly encourage anyone who hasn't been part of an exchange to do
so, it is wonderful.                     --G Valentine

Subject: [Baren 5215] Re: Baren Digest V8 #655 

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Baren #2! I visited Sarah Hauser
yesterday to compare paper samples, and enjoyed browsing her set of prints.
(The texture, feel and smell of prints is much clearer than in virtual
browsing!) I do love her crazy dogs-on-leashes piece. Great turtle, John,
you picked up a lot at Graham's! Also remember Kim's and Greg's --very nice
light, greg, that is an oil base print that would look great in waterbase!
I do think hanga woodcut takes layers of color especially well, and you
have a lot of delicate layers of color.

Nice to see Maria's work....and more of Mary's sensitive landscapes, and
Andrea's slough. That one made me want to visit the beautiful sloughs of
Santa Cruz! Actually I will be visiting the second week in September, maybe
I'll be inspired to do some west coast scenes, too.

Lots of other nice prints, too, can't remember all the names,
congratulations to all who participated.

This is from Ray Hudson in Vermont.
Exchange #2 just arrived and it is once again a wonderful collection of
images.   I'll wait for the posting on Baren before asking any specific
questions.   It got me so excited that I signed up for #3 although I was
thinking of taking a break--Many many thanks, John Amoss, for all your
work on this!
Chris Bremmer--I didn't realize it the first 2 go-arounds, but I recieved
two copies of your vibrant Monarchs.   If you'll send me you mailing
address I'll be happy to send one on to you.
Well, back to gawking at the prints!

OK gang, it's drum roll time again ....

The final registration came in this afternoon for Exchange #3, so we're
off and running! As always, the deadline will be three months from
closing, so we are looking at November 10 as your target date.

Exchange participants will receive a confirmation email from the
coordinators soon, containing all the information you will need to get
started.

Ladies and Gentlemen - start your engines!

P.S.  I'm still waiting for my own copy of the Exchange #2 set to
arrive, but it should only be a few days now until all of you can see
