I ---might--- be able to help you. There goes the Wise One theory out the window. Cheers Graham ------------------------------ From: woodcuts@concentric.net (D. Joseph/R. I saw his woodcuts most recently at the Shoshana Wayne Gallery in Santa Monica's Bergamot Station Art Complex. I am unaware if a catalogue was published in conjunction with that exhibition, but do know that Hacker Art Books in NYC is offering "Anselm Kiefer: Works on Paper" for $45.00. Not sure if the woodcuts are included. Hacker now has a web page (though I must confess, I've not looked into it) at www.hackerartbooks.com. Georgia, Donna Anderson, Pat Berberich amd Pete Rangel were/are all my students. As you no doubt know, KCET's "Life & Times" show filmed a segment on Self-Help Graphics that features Pete's woodcuts (if they haven't edited him out.) For those of you in this area, it will air on KCET (PBS) Tuesday, June 8th, at 7:00 PM. Lezle, Two of my students will be at Frogman's this summer, studying woodcut with Mark Sisson. They are Beatriz Macias and Sarah Worf Sherfield. If you are there during week # one, introduce yourself. My colleague, Cynthia Osborne, and another student of mine, Katherine Gross will be there during week # two. One of Cynthia's incredible lithos will be part of the portfolio exchange. Karla Hackenmiller who is part of Baren (Karla, are you still out there?) is the Assistant Director of Frogman's, and sees to it that things run efficiently. I'm going to try to pop by for "Bowling Night" in week # two, so perhaps we can meet. I know you will have a wonderful and productive time. Be interested to hear your take on Leonard Baskin, but can Italy really compare to Vermillion South Dakota? I just do it! To All Members, Yes, I would be interested in a Group Convention...just state the day, date and year and give us six months or so planning so I can save up my Aussie dollars... I haven't been to America, California sounds wonderful, but not in the heat..I have an invitation to exhibit back in Japan in the next two years, so that too is a possibility! Is this Shark/Vellum? We use vellum in Calligraphy, but it is made from unborn calf hides. Graham, you mentioned Keith Howard's Non Toxic Printing Techniques. Keith was over in Australia 18 months ago and I did an etching workshop with him. We have a photosensitive ImagOn film "cutter" in our Perth Printmakers' Guild now after his visit. I haven't used it yet because I have been doing my woodblocks since, but I did put some film on to my woodblock but instead of using it as an etching plate I intend to cut it....it makes a pretty expensive sort of transfer technique and time consuming when a photocopy transfer would do it in seconds, but I thought I would try it anyway.
