Then when it's still sort of wet and still has some ink left on the glass but not alot, I put on some mag or talc (about a tablespoon or two- depending how big the glass is and how much there is to clean up) and a splash of water on top of the mag. So it's the same time for the mag and water. Then everything should get picked up together with a rag or paper towel. I hope I've explained it clearly and it works for you. Let me know. That's my first participation on that forum but I've been watching you and enjoying very much your dialogue about abstract art, cleaning and sharpening tools, exhibitions, etc. I'm an university teacher and printmaker in spare hours. A sample of my woodcuts and linocuts can be seen at: . Critiques (goods or bads), comments and suggestions about the prints will be welcome. Please, forgive my bad English (in Brazil we speak Portuguese) Horacio ------------------------------ From: Jean Eger Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 07:09:03 -0700 Subject: [Baren 4416] Re: Baren Digest V7 #565 Andrea, Thanks for going in with the Mahattan Exchange Show. I could try to contact Ray Esposito. He'll probably say no, but what the heck. Surely David and Graham will go along with it. We only need five more. The linocut print "Trip" is very well executed. You captured the moment of those rush hour 'pack them in like sardines' bus trips. It would be interesting to know the size of your prints. Graham Oh, and there is nothing wrong with your English. ------------------------------ From: Wanda Robertson Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 09:33:56 -0700 Subject: [Baren 4418] Re: Relief Printmaking book? Jeanne, would the book be "Relief Printmaking" by Colin Walklin? I have a copy of it, it's a new book and has lots of good stuff in it. I am in the same boat you are, Jeanne, feeling like a little kid trying to eat with a knife and fork instead of the spoon or my fingers. I think we just have to persist! Bill Ritchie and Ray Esposito come to mind. Dave might be able to help you with any others that might have parted from the Forum. Thanks for all your efforts..... JULIO Ps... Welcome to the Baren group Horacio! ------------------------------ From: "Jeanne N. Chase" Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 15:34:43 -0400 Subject: [Baren 4420] Re: Relief Printmaking book? Wanda On my way home this eve, I will stop at Barnes Noble and order the book by Walklin. The Barnes Noble store in Sarasota has all of two books on printmaking. I was in seventh heaven two weeks ago in the Boston Museum. I actually had several printmaking books sent to the studio. They are at home now so cannot remember the exact titles, but one was on Japanese printmaking, a book on Mary Cassatts prints and three others that I did not want to carry home in my suitcase. Just pulled 35 prints for the next exchange and on looking at them , I have my doubts. Sooooo, I will be starting a new one tomorrow. Welcome to Baren Horacio. Really liked your prints, especially the Self Portrait and Untitled (with the horse). Your English is just fine!!!! I derived lots of info on the cleanup , thanks everyone for contributing. I love this Group!!! Jeanne PS. Well, we are almost there, for the Manhattan Show. If Ray and Bill will jump in , perhaps it will be a go. ------------------------------ From: Barbara Mason Date: Mon, 17 May 1999 12:34:53 -0700 Subject: [Baren 4421] Re: introduction Horacio, Welcome to the Baren. I liked your work very much, there is so much energy in the marks. Your are a great printmaker. Don't worry about your English, it is a lot better than my Portugeese. They make water based inks for all printmaking techniques. It was quite interesting, and several artists who already use their inks are very pleased. It seems rather expensive to just try out as an experiment, but if anyone is interested, their website address is: http://206.216.201.175.
