But Gampi is very thin. Paper Nao is probably arranging for it to be applied to another washi as a base. You can do this in your press with methyl cellulose, or by carefully gluing with damp rice paste on an unsized but damp base washi which is glued around the opposite side edges to a board and allowed to dry and therefore shrink like a drum to a perfeclty flat piece. I might add that you could substitute the daphne paper from Nepal at $3.97/sheet to achive a similar result. He is my teacher so to speak. Over the past 7 years we have become friends and he is my source of info when I get stuck on something that I need to know. Since the baren this has been fewer and fewer times. So mostly now we talk about computers......he is thinking of upgrading...or shows and exhibitions and, well, many things. He took his training (6 years) form Toshi Yoshida in Japan. He has live in the Americas for 35 years. Mostly in Calgary as a teacher at U of Calgary. Retired to Vancouver, and doing his work and having shows. One in Japan this Spring ...may be there now...and then this summer in Spain. He is known for erotica in a combination of coloured woodblock and etching. Certainly no need to apologize! I've told Dave before, I feel like Baren is the FREE Graduate Art School I never had. I appreciate every word I read, believe me. While ago some were interested in web-sites (at the bar), but I thought I'd post this here for everyone. I found: www.tophosts.com/top15/1.5shtml should meet everyone's needs that doesn't currently have a site. However, I did not see my letter posted in Baren. Perhaps you can tell me which issue of Baren it was in? I've had trouble with Happy99 also and went to a lot of trouble to delete it because I foolishly opened it. In that post I also suggested using the kento registration method with press printing...a good marriage of eastern and western techniques. It eliminates all the elaborate taping and afixing of mat board, etc. It makes your printmaking multicultural! Anyway, it's worth a try!
