Just cut a piece out of one corner of the block being printed, trim it with a flat chisel into a thin sliver long enough for all you need plus one reserve then, with a general-purpose (brown) glue (not the newer wood glues, the ones here [white] don't seem to work so well with small bits) fit the sliver to the DRY kento. Keep any unused slivers for future use. There's no need to cut into the block itself (you stand the chance of splitting the kento off if your on the down grain and if the kento is near the block edge). Shave the top of the new sliver to the block height, again with a flat chisel. You'll get nowhere satisfactorily with a wet block - so let it dry - although there should not be much water or ink on or near the kento if possible. This method will give a strong, lasting bond with the same wood (Cherry in my case... don't use soft wood) as being printed and the addition shouldn't come adrift when you finally wash the block clean after printing. Hope this helps, print on... Dave S ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V6 #397 ***************************
