This certainly is a friendly group, and I want it to continue being a friendly group, but please remember that each time you hit that 'Send' key, your 'message' is being distributed to more than forty mailboxes. When I look back at the stuff we were writing some months ago, we still had the friendliness, but there was a whole lot more 'content'. Let's try and find that balance again please. Thanx Dave P.S. [Baren's] two summer employees have been very busy the past few days. Watch for an interesting announcement soon ... ------------------------------ From: jimandkatemundie@juno.com (James G Mundie) Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 21:40:22 -0400 Subject: [Baren 1113] the herald of my own horn At Ray's urging and so that you can all get a sense that there is justice in the world, I thought I'd share some good news with y'all (hello, Jeanne). :-) I found out yesterday that I will have prints in two more shows in the next few months. Perhaps if the locale is near to any of you, you can attend to see my prints in the flesh: I'll have a print (an etching, I think... there seems to be some confusion here from their end) in Georgia College & State University's "Pressed and Pulled VII" at the Blackridge Hall Gallery and the Museum & Archives of Georgia Education (Milledgeville, Georgia) from 24 August to 25 September 1998 [Enough prepositions for you?] Also, I will have a woodcut and an etching in "Printmakers '98" at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (Pittsburgh PA) from 25 September to 1 November 1998. This has become a very busy exhibition year for me. In addition to the above, I will have a woodcut in this August's "1st Mid-Atlantic Small Prints Exhibition" at Washington Printmakers Gallery (Washington DC), work in several more group exhibitions at Creative Artists Network, at least one print in the Print Club of Albany's September exhibition, and a solo show in October at the University of Pennsylvania's Faculty Club. All of this activity is making Visa and the guy that makes my frames very happy. This is the learning place, all right! A lot of good teachers hang out here and then there's people like me who have only put one toe in the hanga waters. I'm used to oil based ink, but I get closer the more I listen to our more seasoned woodblock printers. Well, their first project is done, and was uploaded to the web a few minutes ago. If you visit the Library section of the Encyclopedia you will find that the link to 'Woodblock Printing - by the Japanese Method' by F. Morley Fletcher has been activated. The entire text and illustrations of this classic 1916 textbook of woodblock printmaking is now ready for your perusal ... There is a _lot_ of material in there. Happy hunting!
