I just wanted to make you all aware of a new goody I discovered on the Creative Artists Network website (http://www.libertynet.org/~canart) the other day-- while engaging in some shameless self-promotion,as well: if one goes into the "on-line gallery" section, clicks on the last artist's name, and goes to the last of her pieces, one can access a section containing biographical information. If you click on my name, you can read my artist statement and a short bio... It's all there should anyone be interested to read my "art speak" reasons for doing what I do. Mise le meas, James Mundie Philadelphia USA ------------------------------ From: Graham Scholes Date: Tue, 19 May 1998 16:16:15 -0700 Subject: [Baren 790] varnishing blocks It just struck me that with all the advice about varnishing I neglected to mention the method of application. I put it on with a rag and after a few minutes and the varnish has had a chance to penetrate the wood a bit, I take 400 emery paper on a soft sanding block and rub the surface until there is no more shine from the varnish sitting on the wood. When it dries the surface feels like velvet or a babies bottom. Very smooth and almost soft feeling. Soft Block? No its not a one liner ..... it is a sanding block with a wrapped with cloth so as it is soft. I keep on around all the time to do my blocks. Graham If your friend gets invited out more often than you, are you outdated. ps Should have the price of pigments this week. ------------------------------ From: Ray Esposito Date: Tue, 19 May 1998 23:13:03 -0400 Subject: [Baren 791] Re: varnishing blocks Graham wrote: >It just struck me that with all the advice about varnishing I neglected to >mention the method of application.
