I hope you'll feel inclined to do more than just listen in! > Do any of you know anything about the Kyoto International Woodprint > Association and Richard Steiner? He is looking for people to send stuff in for exhibiting. I guess maybe he thought I wouldn't be interested, because he knows I don't design my own prints, but after our conversation just now, he is going to send me some info on this. As soon as I receive it, I'll post something here so everybody can know what is going on. > Please check my web page if you are interested in seeing what my prints > look like. I've just linked your page into the [Baren] Members' Web Pages list, on the [Baren] Home Page. Are there any other 'quiet' members out there who would like me to list your pages? Steiner Baren: On Richard Steiner and the Kyoto Woodprint Association. I know of this only from a newsletter and a show application he sent; it sounds great: "KIWA has no grand vision for the future other than providing a vehicle for woodblock prints to be displayed and appreciated, and collecting as many as possible for posterity. We are in love with our medium, the oldest of the print techniques. It is the most flexible creatively, the simplest in terms of tools and materials, the one most available to young and old, amateur and professional alike, the warmest, most approachable and most satisfying." ! (And I was thinking it was kind of a difficult business. . . ) The show is to be held June 23 - 28, and the deadline for sending in prints (un-matted, un-framed) is April 23. Seems they won't take a commission on sales and they'll display everything they recieve, so long as they are woodprints, made in the last 2 years. Unsold work is kept by the Association for their collection. Richard's e-mail address is: steiner@mbox.kyoto-inet.or.jp Matt ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V2 #92 **************************
