Jean Thank you for your concern. I want to use Jean's post to tell three short stories. With all of the devastation here, there are some real heartfelt stories. You may not be aware that all the deaths were people in mobile homes or travel trailers. That tells you something. A baby was blown out of a mobile home along with everything else including a mattress. Nothing was left of the home except the chassis and tires. The next day, the infant was among the missing and searchers were without much hope when someone glanced up at a tree. Laying among the branches was the mattress and on the mattress was the child - unhurt and hungry. The night before, the lighening was like the fourth of July. We had one apartment complex hit but no lives lost. One man was on his second story balcony watching the lightening when a huge bolt lit up the entire sky. To his horror, it was so bright he could see a tornado right in front of him and heading straight at him. He dashed into the apartment, grabbed his wife and dove into the bathroom. Both survived with just bruises. Without that lightening bolt??? A cat was missing. As rescuers were going through the rubble of a mobile home, they were digging out a washing machine. Under the rubble was the cat. Scared and having used up about eight of his nine lives but none the worse for wear. He had jumped into the open washer when the home tore apart and was covered with debis. As someone who works with terminally ill children and seldom experiences a miracle, we lost two more of our kids this week, I feel great when I read stories like these. As much as I love art, a week like this sure does put things in perspective. Life goes on. Okay smart alack!!!!! Let's look at the numbers. The two premier events at the Winter Games are Hockey and Figure Skating. If I'm not mistaken, didn't two Americans take Gold and Silver in Women's Figure Skating? On the men's side, what happened to the great Elvis???? A silver....woweee. And if memory serves, I believe the pride of Canadian sport, hockey, went to the women of the US. Where was the men's Canadian hockey team? Let me see if I have this right - Men's Hockey: Gold - Czech, Silver - Russia, Bronze Finland. FINLAND(???) :>) We'll give you curling. (Of course, Switzerland got the gold in your national sport but I won't mention that.) I prefer quality over quanity. If I may bring things back to printmaking topics ....? I just sent up another update to the Encyclopedia a few minutes ago. It's pretty basic stuff, but I suspect you might be entertained a bit. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~xs3d-bull/baren/encyclopedia/updates.html Dave P.S. In what is getting to be a bit repetitious ... the archives will not be updated again for a couple of days, nor will subscriptions be processed.
