It seems like we have been posting back and forth for years. Amazing how comfortable you can be when talking to friends. This one is for Graham.....definitely not a 10.....but it's mine Printmakers have no limits; everytime a bunch of them get together it turns into a BLOCK party! Anyways...I have been busy the last couple of days making some paper...yes...that's right... making some paper. I guess I got the bug reading about it in all these washi-books I have here...and well I just had to try it. Nothing fancy....no Kozo, no real plant fibers to breakdown...just some shredded computer paper, a blender and a piece of window screening over an 8x10 picture frame. It took me about a dozen times to get a good scooping of pulp and form what seems to be my very first sheet of handmade paper. After a while even my son got into it and tried to make some. I am not sure what it's going to print like because it looks very thin and right now the sheets are still drying. I still need to give it a sizing. All in all we made about 8 sheets of about 6X9 inches. We had lots of fun and even though it might not turn out to be acceptable for printing....it is still our very own paper! Now I got a pot of water boiling... and I am off to collect some plant fiber materials from the backyard......has anybody seen my baseball bat ? Wish me luck ! Just getting into papermaking myself. I am fortunate in that the Society has a cross cut paper shredder and I get great small peices. It is unbelieveable how much paper this organization generates. I already have three large trash bags of computer paper. We also generate a lot of colored paper which we have separated. I will not run out of product. I am anxious to hear how your weed pounding goes. Cheers Ray Esposito ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V2 #73 **************************
